How do I move my hosting to you?

How do I move my hosting to WebhostingNZ?

Moving your website to WebhostingNZ usually involves three steps:

  1. ordering a hosting account
  2. copying your website files and database
  3. updating your domain name to point to the new hosting

Step 1: Order your hosting account

Complete the hosting order form so we can create your new hosting account.

Once the account is created, you will receive your hosting details by email.

Step 2: Move your website files

You can upload your website files using cPanel File Manager or FTP.

Your website files normally need to go into the:

public_html

folder.

If your domain name is not yet pointing to our server, you may be able to connect using the server IP address shown in your hosting welcome email.

Step 3: Move your database, if required

If your website uses a database, such as WordPress, Joomla, OpenCart, or another CMS, the database will also need to be moved.

Please contact us if you are unsure how to do this.

Step 4: Update your domain name

Once the website is ready on the new hosting account, update your domain name to point to WebhostingNZ.

You can either:

  • update the domain nameservers, or
  • transfer the domain name to us

Can WebhostingNZ move my website for me?

In many cases, yes.

If you are moving from another hosting provider, contact us and we can check whether we are able to transfer the site for you.

Please include your current hosting login details and the domain name you want moved.
